Palermo

In Palermo, there is something for everyone. Here some of Buenos Aires' most expensive restaurants intermix with the bars of the Plaza Serrano. On the weekends, the Forests of Palermo and the Rose Garden are ideal spots for walking, playing soccer, and for boat rides. Other nearby attractions include the Jardín Zoológico, the Planetario Galileo Galilei, and the tea offered in the impeccable Japanese gardens.

This is the city´s largest and greenest neighborhood, which is subdivided into several smaller but distinct units: Palermo Chico, Palermo Viejo (which further subdivides into Palermo Soho), Palermo Hollywood, and Las Cañitas. With nearly 350 acres of parks, wooded areas, and lakes, designed by French landscape architect Charles Thays in 1874, Palermo provides a peaceful escape from the rush of downtown. Families flock here on weekends to picnic, suntan, bicycle, in-line skate, and jog. The polo field, where the most important polo matches in the world are held, and the racetrack make this area the city's nerve center for equestrian activities.

Botanical Garden

Those people who like long quiet walks will enjoy strolling in our Botanical Garden, which opened 1908. The triangular park was designed by French landscape designer Carlos Thays in order to classify botanical species. More than 5,000 species are housed in its 104,000 square yards.

Three styles of flora are represented in this garden. The Symmetric Style of French inspiration can be found on the plain near Santa Fe avenue. The Landscape Style of English origin is represented by the part facing Las Heras avenue towards the back of the park. Finally, the Mixed Style is located at the central area. The Argentine flora where characteristic species of each province are exhibited are located in a large area running along Las Heras avenue closer to the entrance of the park. The rest of the areas include species of each continent. There also exists other points of interest inside this famous botanical garden: the art-nouveau style Main Greenhouse which got a award in Paris in 1899; the Cristobal Hicken Gardening School; the Botanical Museum; and the remarkable sculptures and statuary groups exhibited in the gardens, made by renown Argentine and European artists.

The address is Santa Fe 3951. In the summer, the garden is open to the public everyday from 8 am to 8 pm. In winter, the garden is open from 9 am to 6 pm.

- It´s just a game. A beautiful and ardent game that will break loose your imagination to fly and fly. A place to let yourself go, because there are no limits in the empire of desires. There´s no fear, everything turns into pleasure and laughter as the key of an unpunished time, where lovers will be surprised clamouring obscenities. Nothing will restrain or inhibit us in the land of the pure instinct and the imagination which serves it.
It´s the time of supreme egoism, which is the time of love. A place where the facts defy and transgred the principles in pursuit of that risky exaltation, which for us is happines. In Te Mataré Ramirez… desire always comes back.
